If Kisses Were Snowflakes Magenta Card and Technique Tutorial

This month's Magenta Challenge theme is a "Snowy Winter Night".  I made my DT project a blizzard... he,he,he!

Supplies: stencil. stamp and chipboard (Magenta), cardstock (wht- Recollections, blk - Bazzill), snow cone gelato, whipped spackle, and glass bead glitter gel (Faber-Castell), VersaMark (Tsukineko), Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz (Imagine Crafts), emboss powder (Stampendous), ticket corner punch (Stampin' Up), thread and jewels (Misc.)

Here a close up detail photo better shows the shimmer of the Imagine Crafts Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz, the Glass Bead Glitter Gel snowflakes that I created with the mask, and the thread that was dragged through the Glass Bead Glitter Gel.

Magenta Products used:

Snowflakes Mask - MC05

If Kisses were Snowflakes Stamp - 07.888G

Chipboard Snowflakes from Deer and Snowflakes -CB655

I really liked how well the Glass Bead Glitter Gel snowflakes turned out so I thought I'd share a tutorial on how to make them.

Here are the supplies needed:

Snowflakes Mask MC05 (Magenta)
Snow Cone Gelato (Faber-Castell)
Glass Bead Glitter Gel (Faber- Castell)
Palette Knife

Step 1:

On a non-porous craft mat, colour some Snow Cone gelato onto the surface and mix with some Glass Bead Glitter Gel using a palette knife. Note: The colour will dry slightly darker than it appears at this stage as the white of the gel dries and becomes translucent.

Step 2:

Using the palette knife, spread the mixture into the desired snowflake parts of the Snowflakes mask using it like a stencil.

Step 3:

Carefully lift off the mask and let the snowflakes dry. Do not worry if there is a little gel seepage under the stencil. You can fix the snowflakes after they have dried by trimming them with small scissors.

Step 4:

Once dry (you can tell when the colour changes and becomes translucent and darker), carefully peel off the snowflakes. You can use a sharp flat lifter when needed to start the lift of an edge at times.

Hope you give this technique a try and used your embellishments on a project. Be sure to share it with us over at Magenta.
