Cardabilities and Lemoncraft

I have been on a bit of a card making kick of late. Today I am sharing a card that I made using patterned papers from Lemoncraft's Heart Painted collection from My Creative Scrapbook's May Limited edition kit and Cardabilities sketch #126.

Supplies: patterned papers (Lemoncraft), clear gesso (Liquitex), gesso (Golden), watercolour pencil crayons (Prima), stamp and thread (Dollarama), ink (Ranger), glass bead glitter gel (Faber-Castell), ribbon and doily (My Creative Scrapbook kit May 2015), cardstock (CTMH)

I gave this one a touch of watercolouring using Prima Watercolour Pencils adding colour to the black and white magnolia image after it was treated with a layer of clear gesso. Watercolour was also added to a lightly gessoed area beneath the flower.

For a touch of bling, I dragged thread through glass bead glitter gel for a sparkly effect and nested it under the image area once it was dry. Some distressing and stitching rounds this one out.

This was the sketch that I used:

Hello Darling!

Hello to the first day of summer! I am marking the summer solstice with a festivity of floralness.

Supplies: watercolour paper (Canson), patterned papers and die-cut (WRMK), stencil and some flowers (Prima), Tim Holtz Distress inks, and texture paste (Ranger), metal ribbon and crocheted flower (Michaels), bloomer flower (Webster's Pages), green ribbon (miscellaneous)

Flower goodness all around with texture paste stenciled base along with a variety of different florals on the top.

Inspiration for this one came from the Simon Says Stamp Monday Blog challenge for Don't cut, just paste!, colour inspiration from Colour Me...Subtle! and the sketch from Cardabilities #125.

Happy Day Card

This Maggie Holmes Crate Paper is so pretty. I used some of the 6x6 paper pad to create this card based on Cardabilities sketch #123.

Supplies: patterned papers (Maggie Holmes Crate Paper), sentiment stamp (October Afternoon), Stamper's Big Brush (Faber-Castell), butterfly punches (Martha Stewart), baker's twine (Maya Road), moonshine sequins (Simon Says Stamp), vellum and paperclip (Dollarama)

The vellum butterfly punched overlay helps soften the darker colours of the paper and I just like how the Moonshine sequins give a touch of sparkle to the whole thing.

My paper colour choices were based on the beautiful colour swatch from Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Isn't that just such a pretty inspirational swatch? Happy creating!

Happy Spring!

Yeah, the calendar says it is spring in the northern hemisphere so it must be true! Hopefully the weather in my little corner of the world will start to believe it is true and get a tad warmer and less icy. In the mean time, what better way to celebrate the vernal equinox than with some spring splendor in card form and a brilliant Robin William's quote.

Today, I am sharing a card that is based on Cardabilities sketch #119 and inspired by the beautiful seasonal mood board this week over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog and Spring Blooms challenge at Inspiration Emporium.

Supplies: floral mask, butterfly and quote stamps, flower chipboard, and patterned papers (Magenta), card base (Studio G by Hampton Arts), Teal Zeal Momento ink (Tsukineko), Lilac Posies Fireworks spray and Wedding White irRESISTible (Imagine Crafts), Black Archival ink, Lime Stickles and Shabby Shutters Tim Holtz Distress ink (Ranger), leaves branch punch (Stampin' Up), Bubblegum and Coconut gelatos (Faber-Castell), light green watercolour pencil (Reeves), Stardust Gelly Roll pen (Sakura), jewels (misc.)

I used the Magenta bossoms mask with Wedding White irRESISTible spray. Once it had dried, I spritzed the masked area with Lilac Posies Fireworks spray and embellished the flower centres of the background with Lime Green Stickles. I stamped my favourite Magenta Butterfly with Teal Zeal Momento Ink, outlined it with a Gelly Roll Stardust pen, and then fussy cut it out.

The chipboard flower was scored and shaped prior to colouring it with the Fireworks spray. I added shading and details with Bubblegum and Coconut Gelatos and a light green watercolour pencil crayon in the centre area. For the leaves, I punched them from the patterned paper and added depth by shading with Shabby Shutters Tim Holtz Distress ink.

This photo shows the dimensional details of the card.

Hope your first day of spring is a cheery one. For some added cheer, check out the sites for some beautiful springy eye-candy!
