Surprise Party Guest with Seize the Birthday Challenge

Today, I have a soft watercolour birthday card as the Suprise Party Guest Designer with Seize the Birthday Challenge Blog having been the Toppings winner for Food and/or Drink challenge in July.

The Topping theme for this challenge is No Flowers.

Right off the bat when the theme was shared with me, I knew I wanted to use one of the Simply Stated Design Party Animals Ephemera. I went with soft colours for the watercolour loose rectangles background using Prima Confections watercolours from a variety of sets that would compliment the Party Giraffe.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed the asterisk stamp, and doodled more confetti with a white Gelly Roll pen in a rectangle on each level. In the adjoining rectangle, I stamped "yay" in Gold pigment ink and added some dots with a stylus. Then, I added Glossy Accents to the giraffe's party hat where there is a coralish-pink so I could draw the eye by creating a third with the die cut shadow.

I swipped Worn Lipstick Distress Ink directly to paper and die cut the sentiment from it along with from gold metallic kraft-core cardstock, and multiple times from 110 lb white cardstock so that I could stack for dimension. The sentiment is matted on top of teal velvet ribbon embellished with Prism glass gems on each end.

Supplies: Party Giraffe from Party Animals Ephemera pack (Simply Stated Design), 14 Plantain [Tropicals set], 136 Turkish Sea [Currents Set], 44 Sea Dream, 41 Lemonade [Pastel Dreams set], 4 Carrot [The Classics set] watercolour paints (Prima), watercolour paper (Spectrum Noir), 140 lb super stock (Creative Scrapbooker), 110 lb Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah Paper), Birthday on a Line die, asterisk stamp from Critter Crowd stamp set, white emboss powder, Prism Pawsitively Dazzling Gems (Simon Says Stamp), Unicorn White pigment ink and yay stamp from Floral Cake stamp set (Hero Arts), Glossy Accents and Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress Ink (Ranger), Tim Holtz Idea-ology Brushed Gold Metallic kraft-stock (Advantus), Gold Glitz Delicata pigment ink (Tsukineko), 08 white Gelly Roll pen (Sakura), Teal Velvet Ribbon from Simplicity collection (Fancy Pants)

If the challenge topping is not your cup of tea, no worries, you can still participate by making any type of birthday card with the Anything Goes adjunct challenge.
