Always a first time for everything

It is funny how things work out.  I hadn't updated my galleries for September & October (where did the time go) and had some time on the weekend.  Totally a surprise to go visit Two Peas to do some wish list building tonight when I came across this on the main gallery page.

My first time, that I know of, being in the Top 3 and with 2 very different layouts.  I think that is soooo cool! Can you tell that I am just a little excited?

Scrapbook and Cards Today Events

Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine host some of the best make 'n takes biannually at ScrapFest and CreativFestival.  They appeal to paper crafters, card makers and scrapbookers alike and are the cutest projects.  This fall was no different, with their Interactive Studio events being sponsored by Maya Road, Zyron, Doodlebug, Jillibean Soup, Core'dinations, Fiskars.

Well as promised, I am sharing one of their Interactive Studio make 'n takes from this Fall's ScrapFest in Durham.  This one was taught by the one and only Caroline Lau, co-owner of Maya Road.

Is this adorable or what?

I vamped it up with some more details when I got home and made mine into a fridge magnet by glueing 4 flat round magnets to the back.

It brings a smile to my face without fail.

Another cool event that SCT is hosting is their new Crop and Create series.  Having just launched in Saskatoon this fall, it comes to Ontario January 13 & 14, 2012 for its' second installment.  Have you registered yet?

This 2 day event features their reknowned make 'n takes, and a schedule of amazing classes by some of the industry's best.  From my own experiences, I would highly recommend any of Sarah Hodgkinson's card classes and if you are a Becky Fleck PageMaps fan, her Triple Play class was a huge hit at ScrapFest (I will share more on that in another post.).  This time around I have signed up for Kelly Goree's class.  I am so looking forward to it.  Being a teacher, I love to learn new things and experience different teaching styles.

This is sure to be a fun scrappy experience.  They are even hosting pre-event updates and challenges on their dedicated FaceBook page.  Be sure to check out it out and join in the action.

Just 76 sleeps to go.

Magenta October New Release

This is the first new release since I made the Magenta Design Team. It was a neat experience to be a part of the process and to watch the line develop as Valérie, our sweet team leader and Artistic Director for Magenta, pulled the line together.

The exciting part for me personally is this sheet of 12x12 chipboard.

Val was looking for some suggestions for some clouds she had design and she actually used my suggestion for a 12x12 themed chipboard set and english title of "Daily Forecast". So fun!

The Magenta October New Release is available now and shipping to stores. Check out the entire release catalogue here:

Scrapbook and Cards Today Give Away

I have not had an opportunity to blog about the fabulous time I had at ScrapFest a week ago.  Lots of shopping, loads of friendly faces and catching up with some friends including some of my pals from My Scrapbook Nook. I absolutely love the comradery of scrappers and I can honestly say that I made a few new friends during those two days. As for crafty treats, I did a few make and takes and a great three page layout class with the fabulously talented Becky Fleck which I will share soon.

In my VIP goodie bag was a new copy of Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine fall issue.  As I already received one through my subscription to the mag I thought I would give it away to one lucky reader of my blog.

Loaded with loveliness as always, this beauty could be yours by leaving a comment on this blog post.  I will draw a winner from the comments received by November 1st and I will ship it anywhere in the world.

I will be sharing some of my ScrapFest creations and some exciting new Magenta releases over the coming blog posts. Be sure to check back over the next week for more crafty fun.

MME Card Challenge #28

With my favourite time of year as the theme, how could I go wrong?  Here is my take on the MME blog Challenge #28 card sketch:

Supplies: all patterned papers, baker's twine - pulled apart to utilize just the orangy red (MME), leaf die (Sizzix), stamp and brown ink & chalk (CTMH), orange ink (Stampin' Up), pen (Staedtler)

Love the colour combination that I used in this one.  I made it from the scraps that I had left from the Triple Play layout class by Becky Fleck at ScrapFest the weekend before. The collections used include: Lime TwistStella and Rose, and Lost & Found Two

I'm back at it!

It has been a bit nutty as of late and I am just getting back on track.  I hadn't scrapped in three weeks. Gasp! It has been awhile since that has happened.  Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

This past weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada.  Which for me means family, food and fun! Time spent at the cottage equates to evening scrap time.  I was able to create this layout...

Supplies: patterned paper (Prima), chipboard letters (American Crafts), liquid glass (CTMH), brown pen (Staedtler), white pen (signo), floss (DMC)

A tribute layout to Alex's love of her WebKinz.  I fussy cut two scallopped borders and shaped them to create the heart.

Ahhh...It feels so good to create.:)

The collection is Sweet Tooth and it is my fav of their new releases. Talk about lucky! This is going to be fun to create with that is for certain!

Last week I had two other fun scrappy things happen.  Unfortunately I can't share them just yet.  Look for my exciting announcements later this month and at the beginning of November.:)
