Magenta and Imagine Crafts Blog Hop - Day 6

Magenta_badge

Welcome to a week of fantastic collaboration between IMAGINE Crafts and Magenta Rubber Stamps! Both companies are excited to share with you their products, from the latest inks from IMAGINE Crafts to the newest Fall and Holiday stamp releases from Magenta.

For today's installment of the hop, I created a card using the Wedding Dress Irresistible spray on a floral mask and "stamped" with it to create a resist design area.

Magenta products used: Stamps- Butterfly, Carpe Diem; Blossoms floral mask; chipboard tag, patterned paper Tapestry

Imagine Crafts products used: Moment Inks- Love Letter, Teal Zeal, Black Tuxedo; Wedding Dress Irresistible

Other: scalloped cardbase, branch punch, baker's twine, jewels

Once the Irresistible design was dry, I sponged on the background Momento Love Letter colour. I used a watercolour stamping technique to stamp the gorgeous Magenta Butterfly with Momento Teal Zeal.  After loading the stamp with the ink, I gave it a light spritz of water prior to stamping it on cardstock. As you can see, it softens the lines and moves some of the colour around in a pretty watercolour effect.

While it was drying, I stamped the Carpe Diem sentiment on the chipboard tag and Irresistabled the chipboard heart from the tag. Next, I punched out the branches/leaves and created a cluster with the fussy cut out butterfly and tag. Some Baker's twine and jewels added just the right finishing touches.

One more day to get in on the fun and a chance to score some goodies.  Be sure to comment on all the projects through out the Hop days that have been posted.

Imagine Crafts and Magenta Blog Hop - Day 4

Magenta_badge

Welcome to a week of fantastic collaboration between IMAGINE Crafts and Magenta Rubber Stamps! Both companies are excited to share with you their products, from the latest inks from IMAGINE Crafts to the newest Fall and Holiday stamp releases from Magenta.

For day 4 of the hop, I am sharing an ATC. I cut the leftover strip of 12x12 gessoed cardstock that I used for my Fall is my Fav art journal page into 2.5" x 3.5" sized pieces.

Imagine Crafts Products used: Fireworks - Lulu Lavender, Grape Jelly, Lilac Posies; Irresistible- Bahama Blue; StazOn - Jet Black, Stone Gray

Magenta Products used: Stamps - Deco Pattern damask, Script and Postmark, Do Small Things With Great Love sentiment

Other: heavy cardstock, gesso, pen, jewels

I started by stamping the background with the Script and Post Mark stamp using the Stone Gray StazOn. Then, I sprayed the 3 different Fireworks sprays starting from lightest (Lulu Lavender) to darkest (Grape Jelly) and added a light spritz of water to lighten the colour and move it around. I allowed each colour to dry slightly before adding the next one. Once the last colour was dry, I sprayed the Bahama Blue Irresistible onto a small 3x3 foam square to create a sort of stamp pad and stamped using the Deco Pattern Damask stamp. Once the Irresistible stamped damask image was dry, I outlined the image with a pen.  Using the Jet Black StazOn, I stamped the sentiment and edged the card. Lastly, I added the jewels as the final touch and compliment to the shimmery background.

It is hard to show in the photo but if you look closely, you might be able to see the shimmer that comes with the Fireworks sprays. Such a beautiful effect and so pretty in real life.

Hope you enjoyed todays offering.

Magenta and Imagine Crafts Blog Hop Week Day 2

Magenta_badge

Welcome to a week of fantastic collaboration between IMAGINE Crafts and Magenta Rubber Stamps! Both companies are excited to share with you their products, from the latest inks from IMAGINE Crafts to the newest Fall and Holiday stamp releases from Magenta.

For my first project of the hop, I created a mixed media journal page as an ode to my favourite season of the year.

Magenta products used: Stamps- Ornate Flourish, It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year sentiment, Numbers from the Savvy Symbols stamp set, Autumn Oak Leaf large, Autumn Oak Leaf small; Stencils- Floral Elements, Geometric Trio - circles; Cork Self Adhesive Alphabet Stickers; Mini Alphabet Chipboard Letters; Canvas Fabric Sheet

Imagine Crafts/Tsukinenko products used: Momento Inks- Nautical Blue, Teal Zeal, Cottage Ivy, Love Letter, Gray Flannel, Elderberry, Tuxedo Black; StazOn- Jet Black, Stone Grey, Cloudy Sky, Cactus Green, Pumpkin, Timber Brown; Delicata- Gold Glitz; Irresistibles- Wedding Dress

Other: 9x12 mixed media journal, heavy cardstock, gesso, small piece of burlap, Silhouette digital cutting machine

I started with a gessoed heavy cardstock 8 1/2" x 12" piece and added Momento inks by stamping each colour  (Nautical Blue, Teal Zeal, Cottage Ivy and Love Letter) onto a clear acrylic block and then spraying it with water before smooshing it onto the background. I spritzed more water onto the background as needed to move the inks around. The trick is to use a heat gun to dry between ink layers so as not to blend the contrasting colours and ending up with a puddle of brown. I also added a bit of Cactus Green StaxOn and moved it around with a rubbing alcohol dipped makeup sponge.

Then came stamping using the various grey StazOn inks (Stone Grey, Cloudy Sky) and Jet black with the Ornate Flourish, sentiment and Savvy Symbols number stamps (9 and 10 for my favourite fall months). The stamping was alternated with sponged on and Geometric Circle stenciled gesso layers to add depth and texture to the background.

Once dry, I stenciled the floral sprays using the Momento Elderberry and randomly stamped the Delicata Gold Glitz on using a scrap piece of burlap.

Next, came the fore front layer of bold leaf stamping using the Autumn Oak Leaf stamps and Pumpkin StazOn.

By stamping Momento ink onto a craft mat and adding water, I was able to splatter a mix of Momento Love Letter with Flannel Grey (to darken the colour to match the canvas fabric). While it was drying, I coloured the Mini Chipboard Alphabet letters with Black Tuxedo ink, cut "fav" out of the canvas fabric, and then adhered my titling into place.

To finish off the page, I splattered with the Wedding Dress Irresistable by uncapping it and using the spray straw. Once dry, I repeated the craft mat process with Tuxedo Black to splatter on the final touches.

I edged the whole piece with Timber Brown StazOn and again moved the colour around with a rubbing alcohol saturated makeup sponge. Lastly, I adhered it into my journal.

Hope you find some seasonal inspiration to bring to your crafting projects, whether it be fall or spring, in your part of the globe.
