Get Picky Sketch #6 from Guest Designer Becky Fleck

You only have to look on my sidebar to see I am a fan of Becky Fleck and her PageMaps sketches.  Not only will you find a site badge, but you can see from the number of posts/layouts in the labels menu, that I am.  As some of my favourite layouts that I have made are based on her sketches, I was so excited to see that Becky was the Guest Designer at Get Picky in March.  While I did not have the opportunity to participate in the contest part of the challenge, I loved the sketch and wanted to use it.  Here is the sketch used for March's challenge.

Here is my take:
Supplies: patterned papers, chipboard (MME), cardstock, chalk and blue marker (CTMH), VersaMark (for chalked shape), punches (Stampin' Up, Fiskars), pen (Staedtler), kitchen twine (Misc.)

I had picked up the MME Fine and Dandy from Scrapbook Memories - The Design Studio's brand new location on a March Break sojourn to London, Ontario where I naturally had to LSS shop both on my way and in London.  Once I started to think about what I wanted to do with the sketch, I knew that I wanted to use this line and exactly which pictures I wanted to use.  So again this month it required a trip down memory lane to find the photos in my pre-scrapbooking 35 mm film days.  This time it was back to 2001.  The outfit my DD is wearing is one of my favourite's from her toddler years.  So have to love the Gap for their adorable coordinated lines!

I marvel that I actually have some good photos from then, as I was really just beginning to learn more about photography and how to use my manual camera.  Not to mention, you get what you get as no editing was available with the film developed as is.

Be sure to check out both the Get Picky DT's takes as well as the spectacular entries.  This site is proving to be one hugely internationally talented inspirational place to visit!  April's sketch challenge closes in a day so there is still time to get your entry in.

Happy Easter!

A pillow box chocolate Easter egg treat holder.  Be sure to check out today's Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine's blog for another really fun one that I made for my sister-in-law.  She is very much a bling/glitter girly girl.

If you observe Easter celebrations, enjoy your time with family and friends.

Happy Easter!

Crate Paper Sketch meets Nook Kit

My Scrapbook Nook's March kit was well worth the wait.  Chalk full of Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe with some added MME accessories it is perfect for little girl pages.  Lucky for me I ordered the border add-ons because they were perfect for this month's Crate Paper Blog sketch challenge.

Supply list can be found here
My take is a little different from the sketch.  That is the nice thing about starting with a sketch sometimes; it gives you inspiration and gets you going but it can take on a life of its' own as you make it work with the photos and supplies that you have on hand.

Easter weekend begins on a high!

My Easter weekend started with a very pleasant scrappy surprise.  I was browsing Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine's blog as I often do and imagine my joy at seeing one of my layouts featured in their Easter Themed Reader Submissions blog post!

It made my daughter's day too as she loves being the star of my pages.  Such a fun way to start off the holiday weekend!

I am sending positive vibes for the cold rainy weather to go way by Sunday so that I can capture some outdoor Easter photos for this year.  Fingers crossed.

Thrilled with 1 ... Ecstatic with 4!

Sometimes a little patience goes a long way.  When I hadn't heard anything from Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, I had thought I was out of luck for publication submissions for April's call.   Needless to say, I was mistaken in my thoughts when I received a scrap happy email from them today.  Apparently they had a computer glitch and lost a whole wack of data but have gotten things going again for the April Edition.  At anytime I am just thrilled to have one layout published so you can imagine that I was over the moon ecstatic when four of my layouts were picked up for this edition.  It goes live on the 24th so be sure to check it out!

Queen of the Crop April Part Deux

As promised, here is my second DT assignment double pager.  Here my daughter is 18 months old.  As the title indicates, she had baby blues still at this time.

Supplies:  patterned paper and navy cardstock (DCWV), cardstock, stamps, and ink (CTMH), pen (Creative Memories)

While most babies' eyes change to their permanent colour by the time they are one, Lexi's kept changing until she was over 3 years.  At this point they are a darker blue with a navy outer ring.  They eventually went green with the navy ring and then they goldened until they became a military green like her dad's eyes.

April Queen of the Crop Country Retreats Layout

One of two double page layouts that I have made for Queen of the Crop Country Retreats occuring this month.

Supplies: patterned paper (DCWV ), cardstock, alphabet stamps, pennant stamps, ink (Close to My Heart), punch (Fiskars), chipboard, embroidery floss, foam tape, dew drops (Dollarama), pen (Creative Memories), glitter glue (Stickles), misc. bubble wrap
Fun baby photos of my daughter and her bear in printed 4x6s from my predigital prescrapbooking era.  This one has lots of stamping, inking and faux stitching with a touch of glitter to finish it off.  All title work and embellishment lettering is stamped as well as the pennant pieces and bubble wrapped stamped background.

I will share the second one in a few days. Until then...
