Changing It Up with Some Hello Sunshine

Another SNR Mag layout to share with you.  Fun and playful, here I dug into my Nook Kit stash and used Lily Bee's Hello Sunshine collection.

This layout was my "Change the Orientation" take on Lucy Chesna's sketch for the March edition.

Here is my choice orientation.

I also did a product review on the BoBunny Flex Ruler which is the tool that I used to create the wave lines. A little liquid glass, otherwise known as dimensional glaze, on the water drops gives it a neat wet look in real life.

SNR Take It Off the Page with LilyBee

I really like love how this card turned out!

I used the Head Over Heels LilyBee Design collection featured in the January Nook Kit.  It was made for an SNR assignment for the February addition of the magazine.  The task was to Take It Off The Page and turn it into a card based on this layout sketch:

A really versatile sketch with copious options. Next time you need a quick card look no further than taking a cue from a simple layout sketch.

Little Feathered Friends Inspiration Card

Fussy cut some fun flighty birdie patterned paper, take an inspirational quote stamp and heat emboss the sentiment on some pretty floral green patterned paper all from Magenta, and this is what you get:

I am giving this one as a retirement card for a friend.  An inspiration to try out something new that she has always wanted to do.  Ending a career after 30 years is a challenge. Though the change can be hard, it can be exciting too... a new adventure...  a chance to "Walk to the edge and FLY!"

Kissably Cute with a Sketch plus BasicGrey & an Orientation How-to

Another Scrapbook News and Review Magazine share for today.  This time up is a sketch by Emma Stafrace.  My assignment was to change the orientation.  I used a Y axis rotation of 180 degrees to come up with this take on it.

Such a fun layout and I chose to use up some stash papers and products from the Urban Prairie Collection from BasicGrey that suited my photos well.

Sometimes it is really helpful to see the different orientation variations before choosing which one works best for you.  This was how I went about getting the take that I chose:

1. Right click on the sketch image and then paste it into a word document.  Resize to a smaller version without skewing it by holding down either control or shift and then left clicking the mouse and dragging it to desired size.

2. Right click on the resized image, click on format picture and then select 3D Rotation.  From there you can play with the X, Y or Z axises to determine which take on the sketch you would prefer. Be sure to print off or sketch out the new orientation of the sketch.

Time to Share

It is about time that I share some of my projects that I created for Scrapbook News and Review Magazine over the next week or so.  My work as a staffer began appearing with the February issue but I could not share it with you until after a set time period. 

First up is the Colour of the Month.  The colour that month was... red.  I love the rich vibrance of it and what better line to work with then MME's Lost & Found Union Square. Multiple hues and glitter too... got to love it!

The idea here is to have the vast majority of the layout done in the focus colour with a touch of one or two other colours.  As you can see, I chose tan and black as my complimentary colours to complete the project.  Some stamping, matting and homemade flowers rounds it out.

Friendly Influences of a Couple of Friends

Friends can share ideas, teach us new things and influence our creations by the inspiration they bring to us from their art.  Such is the case for this layout of adorable little Hadley climbing the stairs when visiting for a family gathering.

I am blessed with some great friends over at My Scrapbook Nook.  I think you would be hard pressed to find a nicer more supportive group of hugely talented women out there in cyber scrappy world.  I love that many nationalities around the globe are represented thus the sharing of regionally influenced ideas.

Since Christmas, when my Norwegian friend Hilde, posted a cute woven heart card on the Nook blog, I've wanted to give the technique a try.  For this layout, I used the heart weaving technique and I also added the thread clusters which is a nod to my Belgian friend Lilith's super style sense.

It is great to have friends with great talent who are willing to share their expertise and artistic endeavours to help others grow.  Thanks ladies for inspiring me to try new things.

Emboss Resist Photo Paper Card with Magenta Stamps

This is an easy and very effective stamping technique using distress inks.  I love the simplicity of design and colours of this card featuring Magenta stamps.
