Focus 2015

Are you one to have a word for the New Year? In the past, I have not, but what I see as a needed change in my life, happened to coincide with the new year.  My mantra for the next while is Focus.  I was thinking of doing an art journal page on it when I saw Anna Dabrowska AKA Finnabair's December 31st Art Recipe Wednesday and it totally inspired me to make a scrapbook page instead. I really liked the elements of using a partial face image with pops of colour behind it using Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

Supplies:  watercolour paper (Strathmore), Tim Holtz Distress inks and Archival ink (Ranger), stencils (Prima, Dollarama), sentiment stamp (Magenta), coffee filter words (Pink Paislee), paper tape (Muilticrafts), masking tape (Dollarama), blk cardstock (Bazzill), Brush Script Font (Nicole Nowsad), digital cutter (Silhouette Cameo), number wood veneers (Studio Calico), water colour pencil crayon (Reeves), whipped spackle, gelato and Stamper's Big Brush (Faber-Castell), flowers (Flourish with a Bling, Petaloo, and Prima), pens (CTMH), metal bird trinket (MME)

I tried out something new with the creation of this background too. I used a watercolour pencil crayon to do all the purple shadows and colouring of the mask tape.

For the splatters, I used Metallic Grape gelatos mixed with a little water and glaze. For the black splatters I used a Stamper's Big brush on a craft mat and again added some water and glaze to the ink.

I have to totally agree with Anna, it is a bit addictive creating backgrounds this way.
