Dream On

When I saw the Christine Adolph Rub-on adhesives and Prima foils during CHA releases, I knew I had to get my hands on some. I ordered a few from Simon Says Stamp and gave it a try. 

Supplies: watercolour paints, adhesive rub ons, foil, and sentiment stamp (Prima), watercolour paper (Ranger), cardstock (CTMH), VersaMark (Tsukineko), Heat and Stick (Stampin' Up)

For my first attempt, I placed a butterfly on my Prima watercolour painted background. They work like a charm and... oh my, the design done with the foil is so gorgeous!

I matched the gold with a Finnabair sentiment by emboss ink stamping, covering it with heat 'n stick emboss, and then adhering the foil.

Another fun card was made with Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes Confetti collection. This one was inspired by the CardMaps challenge over at Scrapbook.com using a Becky Fleck sketch.

Supplies: Maggie Holmes patterned paper, stickers embossing folder (Crate Paper), cardstock (CTMH), icraft Deco foil (Thermoweb), glitter (Dollarama), gingham ribbon (O'Scrap!)embroidery floss (Anchor), Tim Holtz tiny attacher and staples (Advantus)

The music score embossing folder adds just that right touch to the background. 

For easy gold embellishing of the tag, I ran a quick swipe of glue stick around the edge and then added some gold foil.

Happy Day

April Showers Bring May Flowers is the challenge theme this week over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. While there is much sunny spring weather to be scene around Instagram, in my neck of the woods, we still have snow; but alas, there are some brave flower souls peaking through.

My card take on the challenge is full of pretty Prima posies and pieces from Garden Fable collection with an added element from my backyard... a fallen piece of a crabapple branch.

For the sentiment, I went with a Happy celebratory theme for the Happy Birthday challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog.

Birthday Celebration

I am really enjoying making birthday cards with Crate Paper's Confetti collection by Maggie Holmes. I made this card for a dear friend whom I know really appreciates my handcrafted creations.

Supplies: Maggie Holmes embossing folder, patterned paper, sticker (Crate Paper), cardstock (CTMH), double sided adhesive (Scor-Tape), twine (Maya Road), butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), vellum (The Paper company), glitter (Dollarama)

For this card, I used the polaroid photo frame patterned paper piece and added a little twist. I used thin double sided adhesive on the frame and added gold glitter.

Try to Resist with a Birthday Card

It is all about resist techniques at Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge blog this week featuring Ranger products. As one for always liking to learn new techniques, I can honestly say that I have tried a multitude. One of my tried and true favourites is heat embossed resist. Thus, for this challenge, I did a Tim Holtz heat embossed stamped butterfly and coloured it with Tim Holtz Distress inks by Ranger.

Get Messy and World Wildlife Fund

Get Messy Art Journaling is quite a diverse, outgoing, caring, global artist community. When they proposed a collaborative art journal magazine to raise funds and awareness for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), I jumped at the opportunity to join in.  All profits from this magazine are donated to WWF and go to aid in conservation efforts, research, and awareness.

I contributed two double page spreads created in my 81/2" x 11" Strathmore 400 Series journal. For both, I utilized image transfer techniques; one made with Faber-Castell gelatos and the other, was my first project using my new Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours. I must say that I am quite thrilled and honoured that one of my pages appears in the sample preview. So go check out the preview and learn more about the magazine.

Art Makes Me Happy

As soon as I saw the "I'm a Get Messian" colour selection for Get Messy Art Journaling members, I knew what I wanted to do with them and my new Prima Crayons. I printed them out and created this colour blocking art journal page.

As it was the Season of Happy week 1 prompt, I made it around what makes me happy - Creating art makes me happy... getting messy with my fingers makes me happy... these Prima Pastels make me happy (love the vibrancy and spreadability)... these colours make me happy... layering and stencils make me happy... gold splatters make me happy (loving Imagine Crafts for making this effect so easy).

Being part of a supportive creative community is definitely something that makes me happy.

Hoppy Easter

What is the Easter season without some adorable bunnies? The sketchy bunny stamp that I used for this layout totally fits the bill for adorable cuteness!

The stamp comes with the bunny facing towards the right but as you can see, I have a left facing bunny. I was able to create that bunny by using a stamp transfer reverse/mirror image technique.

First, I stamped the image using "juicy" ink onto another rubber stamp surface and then I stamped with that surface; thereby, transferring the image in a mirror manner. While it might not transfer as crisp and clean as a well stamped original, it can be sharpened up by going back over lines with a pen/marker.
