It is time for another Emerald Creek Dare! This challenge emcompasses anything that gets you outside during the summer. That means it is open to a lot of interpretation and activities like sports, fishing, camping, gardening, kite flying, hiking, boating, sandcastles, and fireworks, just to name a bunch. If you do it outdoors than you can make a project around it.
For me, summertime outdoor activities, more often than not have some component of water to them. Whether it be swimming, boating/paddleboating, or fishing... surf and sand likely play a part, thus I created a card reflective of that. The card's background was created with a kraft paper that was sprayed with water and then massively crinkled to distress it all up (please note: paper will shrink about 1/2 inch on both sides from your original cut measurements, if using this technique). Personally I love that calming feeling water brings and the feel of sand between my toes. If you look carefully along the exposed distress crinkled kraft paper, you will see what looks like sand but is in fact Antique Gold embossing powder that has been adhered and slightly heat activated but not set.
It has an awesome faux sand look and texture. You will notice that I actually used two colours of emboss powder on the Waterlogged image. I first stamped with VersaMark ink and then applied Candy Brown emboss powder to the logs portion and Antique Gold to the coins bottom portion. I stamped the Carmen compass using Fired Brick Distress ink on a canvas strip to symbolize adventure and the adorable aqua friend turtle brads that round out my scene were coloured using Citrus green alcohol ink and a brown Sharpie marker.
Head on over to the Emerald Creek Dares blog to see my fellow DT members creations and link up your outdoor activity piece. Details can be found here.
