4 Amigas

This weekend I did some crafty organizing and rediscovered a partially made layout using a My Creative Scrapbook kit featuring Simple Stories Daily Grind collection. No time like the present, I got it done.

Supplies: patterned papers, die cuts, chipboard (Simple Stories), cork letters (CTMH), ribbon and tag (Misc.), wood veneer (Studio Calico), Baker's Twine (Maya Road), watercolour paints (Daler-Rowney)

I mixed up some watercolour paints to match the blue on the paper and added some splatters to the background. I had fun using lots of little bits from the chipboard pack.

I still have lots of this kit left so I will have to make a few more projects with it.

Background Bonanza - Journal Journey

I have some catch up to do with sharing some recently made creations. With my academic course over and after such a creative time lull , I am feeling the need to create. Over the last week, I went on a bit of a creative binge (with a little help from Easter holiday time).  I did a bunch of DT work, made some layouts, journal pages, a few cards, just played and enjoyed. Now I have to get caught up with photographing and posting. LOL!

Today, I am sharing a journal page that I made for Journal Journey 2015 February's prompt for backgrounds.

Supplies: mixed media paper (Strathmore), FW Acrylic inks (Daler-Rowney), acrylic paints (DecoArt and Plaid), Dina Wakely Scribbly Birds stamp set, Tim Holtz black Distress Paint and Archival ink (Ranger), stencil (The Crafter's Workshop), Music Score stamp (Impression Obsession), Studio G white pigment ink (Hampton Arts), gesso (Golden), Uniball pen

I had a great time trying the different background techniques that Jodi shared. I started with my new FW Acrylic inks as the base on Strathmore Mixed Media paper as I wanted to see how they flowed, mixed, reacted, etc. Then I layered on colour with acrylic paints and stenciled and stamped. LOVE the results! I will definitely use that approach in the future.

Stamping the Dina Wakely bird, from her Scribbly Birds stamp set, on watercolour paper, I then coloured it using watercolour pencil crayons. Once dry, I fussy cut it, doodled the "nest", and then glued the bird in place. To finish it off, I stamped the quote and the tweets.

Looking forward to sharing more over the coming week.

Get Messy Art Journal Blog Hop - Season of Love

A little hop time for Get Messy Art Journaling. I am sharing a few art journal pages created from the Season of Love prompts. The first two are new and last one is one of my favs to date.

First up, I played with my new FW Acrylic Inks by Daler-Rowney on this page that was inspired by Set 3 - numbers 1 and 2.

Supplies: 6x9 watercolour book (Strathmore), FW Acrylic Inks (Daler-Rowney), stencil (The Crafter's Workshop), Texture paste (Ranger), Tim Holtz stamp (Stamper's Anonymous), Stamper's Big Brush (Faber-Castell)

A detail close up...

Next up, is this simpler and toned down page inspired by Set 4 - number 4 and Set 5 - number 3. This page is dedicated to my grandmother who taught me that love should be unconditional.

Supplies: mixed media paper (Strathmore), doily (Kitchen Aid), Scotch Brand washi tape (3M), gesso (Golden), Tim Holtz stamp (Stamper's Anonymous), Ink (Ranger), pen (Sharpie), book page (Misc.)

Style wise my art journal pages are like my scrapbooking, I do not have one set style. I like variety... a little freestyle eclectic, a little clean and simple, a little shabby romantic. So while the above two pages fall into the later categories, this next page that I have previously shared, falls into the bold classic romantic realm. I just adore it.

Supplies: 400 Series Watercolor Hardbound 11" Art Journal  (Strathmore), Tim Holtz tissue paper and stencil, Archival, glue n' seal (Ranger), stamps (CTMH), gelatos and Stamper's Big Brush (Faber-Castell), gesso (Golden), word strip stickers (Cosmo Cricket), beige tissue paper (misc.)

The inspiration for this page was set 2 - number 1.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to hop over to one of my smaller group fellow hop participants. You are sure to find some beautiful inspirational pages. Enjoy!
