4 Amigas

This weekend I did some crafty organizing and rediscovered a partially made layout using a My Creative Scrapbook kit featuring Simple Stories Daily Grind collection. No time like the present, I got it done.

Supplies: patterned papers, die cuts, chipboard (Simple Stories), cork letters (CTMH), ribbon and tag (Misc.), wood veneer (Studio Calico), Baker's Twine (Maya Road), watercolour paints (Daler-Rowney)

I mixed up some watercolour paints to match the blue on the paper and added some splatters to the background. I had fun using lots of little bits from the chipboard pack.

I still have lots of this kit left so I will have to make a few more projects with it.

Summer Songbird

I just had some photos developed yesterday from last week's cottage time and got the urge to document this fun memory of cousin Hadley as she was singing her little heart out.

Supplies: patterned papers, flower die cuts, stickers (Basic Grey), stencil, fabric flower, clay flower, metal flower, golden wood leaf (Prima), texture paste and Distress Stickles (Ranger), glitter liner (Viva), gelato (Faber-Castell), gesso (Golden), pen (CTMH), thread (misc.)

I cracked open the June Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook, full of Basic Grey's Tea Garden collection and Prima goodies along with a Kristine Davidson sketch which in combination was ideally suited to the single photo and its colours.

Texture pasted the background using the Prima Wild Flowers stencil. Then added some glitter to the leaves and colour splatters to the background with a Metallic Mint gelato and water mixture.

It was very relaxing to just play with the paper, distressing the edges and adding touches of gesso to give it all a bit of a shabby feel as well as playing with levels and layers.

Sweet & Silly You

I really liked Sassy Scrappers' March Moodboard and though I did not get a chance to play along with their challenge last month, I still wanted to create a layout based on it. When I saw the images that Anita Bownds had put together, it brought to mind a collection of several products from my stash.

Supplies: patterned papers (Pink Paislee and Studio Calico), clear gesso (Liquitex), poppies stamp (Magenta), gelatos and Stamper's Big Brushes (Faber-Castell), Studio G glitter glue (Hampton Arts), tissue paper (Dollarama), Amy Tangerine Foam letter stickers (American Crafts), vellum die cut (Studio Calico), wood frame and Ormulo Cut Aparts (Scraptastic Kit Club), marker (Sharpie)

The poppies reminded me of the beautiful Magenta Poppies stamp which I used to stamp the background and coloured them in with gelatos.  The tissue paper was leftovers from when I experimented with colouring it for this and this layouts.

The patterned papers (Studio Calico Print Shop and Pink Paislee Color Wash) are from Scraptastic's January 2014 Tongue Tied kit.  I used several other items from that kit, like the Studio Calico Printshop die cuts, the exclusive "smile" wood veneer frame and the exclusive Ormolu Cut Aparts.

Here is the inspirational Moodboard:

Check out this month's April challenge here. It is another great inspirational collection of colours and images.

The subject of my layout is my beautiful niece who is the quintessential middle child and given that she is such, I am playing along with Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog for In the Middle.

Card Catch Up

Today, I am sharing a few cards that I made in the spring but just had not gotten to posting.  Hope you enjoy them.

Using Simple Stories Daily Grind Collection from a My Creative Scrapbook kit, I made this masculine birthday card.

Supplies: patterned papers, die cuts, stickers (Simple Stories), celebrate stamp (American Crafts), today stamp (CTMH), inks (Tsukineko), wood veneer stars (Studio Calico)

I had a good time giving it some dimension and playing with the stickers for reading flow.

I was so stoked that Simple Stories reposted it when I put it up on my Instagram account.

I dug into it my stash and made a card for a friend's birthday.  I used an old Kate collection from Making Memories to create this card.

Supplies: patterned paper (Making Memories), cardstock (Paper Reflections), digi stamp bird (Bugaboo Digi Stamps), sentiment stamp (Imaginisce), border punch (Fiskars), gelatos (Faber-Castell), ink and multi medium (Ranger Ink), funky purple trim (Dollarama), stardust glitter pen (Gelly Roll by Sakura), pen (CTMH), silver packaging ribbon (Misc.)

I used Bugaboo Digi Stamps' bird that I coloured with gelatos and tucked it into a neat nest made from some funky dollar store ribbon. I also used their Stella Says Sketch #208 for inspiration.

Yeah for using my stash!

Lastly, a quick and simple card that I made for my Magenta ATC swap partner to tuck them in on their travels when I sent them off to the Netherlands. Love the big script font in the Winnie & Walter Hello stamp.

Supplies: pre-printed floral card base(Laura Ashley), ribbon and wood veneer flowers(CTMH), "Hello" stamp(Winnie & Walter), ink(Tsukineko), glitter glue (Studio G-Hampton Arts), jewels and fabric flower(Dollarama)

Until next time.
