Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
Oh I am so over the moon! I was invited to partake in an activity for Canadian Scrapbooker. When I initially opened the email, I thought it was a publication acceptance for layouts that I had submitted for the Summer call. Boy was I wrong. It was 100 times better. I cannot believe my good fortune at this time in my scrapbooking journey. I look forward to the months ahead when I can share more. Keep your fingers crossed for my success in this endeavour.

My Scrapbook Nook Family Reunion Crop
The Nook just wrapped up it's virtual crop. The challenges were fabulous and the projects scrappers created were outstanding. The talent pool over there is unreal. I only had an opportunity to participate in 2 smaller challenges. This was my take on Stacey's Challenge #14 - Monograms.
I decided to make mine a room decor for Valentine's decorating. There is lots of Heidi Swapp in this one, old and new House of 3/Pink Paislee. I Glimmer Misted the specialty paper with pink to coordinate with the "M". I used a Dollar Store picture frame and placed the paper behind the glass and the embellishments on the glass.

Prima January Challenge
This soon-to-be released Prima loveliness is featured in this months Prima Picks and Colour Palette.
I like all the fabric and crochet textures of this batch. Be sure to participate in either their Colour Palette or Build-A-Page Sketch Challenge. The deadline for both is January 30th.

Perfectly timed!
I had a really challenging day today at work. I was spent both physically and emotionally when I got home. I checked my email and lo and behold, I received a publication request for 3 of my layouts from Scrapbook News and Review Magazine. It totally changed how I felt for the evening and I will be on a scrappy high for a few days especially because the edition goes live on the 16th. It is something to look forward to this weekend!
Got to love how things happen for a reason and sometimes are truly perfectly timed when you need it most.

The Color Room Palette #35
Did you check out The Color Room's Palette and sketch # 35?
Right off the bat, the colours reminded me of Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 collection. It just so happens that I have a bunch of it because it was the featured line in the Nook's November kit. Gotta love when that happens! Here is my take on the palette and sketch:
My daughter's reaction..."Mommy, that is my favourite layout ever. Can I have it in my bedroom?" The best review a mom can ever receive.
Technique Tip: I braided the flossed to give some depth, texture and diameter and adhered it with a liquid glass adhesive.
You can see it and other's interpretation on the Color Room's photo wall on here.

Crate Paper's New Colour Inspiration Challenge
Here is what I came up with:
Supplies: patterned paper, chipboard, diecuts (Crate Paper), cardstock (Bazzill), border punches (Stampin' Up, Fiskars), letter stickers (October Afternoon), glitter chipboard letter stickers (Pink Paislee), jewels (SandyLion), pen (Creative Memories)
I scrapped an older photo of my daughter (one of the few with her glasses from when she needed them) just before her two front teeth fell out. I love that a lot of their colours overlap on different lines which makes mixing and matching a breeze. Using what I had on hand in my stash, I mixed "Blue Hill" patterned paper with "Paper Doll" embellishments to match the palette. I outlined doodled the Blue Hill die-cut flowers to match the black outlines on the Paper Doll chipboard.

Seasonal Double Page Layout
This was my seasonal retreat double page layout.
Journaling reads:
In the morning and at night, sharing the magic of gift giving with Grandma. It is fun seeing all your eyes light up with excitement as you each unveil a new treasure.
If you have ever ventured down my blog's sidebar you would see that I do some DT work for my friend Deanna's Queen of the Crop Country Retreats. Each retreat, she gives the retreat ladies a complimentary make n' take double page layout. Deanna supplies me with 2 pieces of co-ordinating patterned paper and 1 piece of coloured textured cardstock plus either black, white or colonial white cardstock. I can use any CTMH stamps for titling and further embellishing. From there it is up to my imagination. I always have to keep in mind the difficulty level and ease of replicating it with minimal guidance as well as the adaptability of changing up picture sizes when I am putting retreat layouts together. There are two other women on the team and the neat thing is we each have our own style thus allowing participants a variety of layouts for their albums over time.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Today I am sharing a layout that has the honour of being my final layout for 2010 as I finished it on New Year's Eve. The colour inspiration was from the Prima Picks December Color Challenge that I posted earlier this month. Lots of fussy cutting and distressing involved. It took a few hours for the glimmer mist to dry the other day as well as some ironing to get the cardstock relatively flat this time due to the amount of mist. It was so worth it as the glimmer misting is stunning in real life with such vivid green colouring that matches the Prima patterned paper.
