ICAD Day 9 - Sending You Sunshine

I like a challenge and if you are wondering, yes, I mean that as a double entendre. 'Challenge', as in a contest where I make something to submit it and 'challenge', as in something of a dilemma that requires creative problem solving. In my last post, I mentioned taking on a bit too much with crafty courses and my own personal 100 ICAD challenge but I am loving them and learning some cool new things (not to mention the spectacular eye candy of fellow participants). Well, as I was pondering my challenge dilemma and building my Day 9 ICAD using the week 6 Summer of Creative Chemistry techniques from Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 102 , a way to cover them all, started to fall into place.

Using the Tim Holtz Rays stencil, Distress inks, a script stamp from the 'Urban Grunge' stamp set, and two stenciling techniques (Ink Monoprint and Stencil Stamping), I made my Day 9 ICAD.

Supplies: Tim Holtz Distress inks [Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Stain, Wild Honey] (Ranger), Urban Grunge Clear stamp set and Rays stencil (Stampers Anonymous), index card (Staples)

Then, I used that as my background as I built a scene for my shaker card including: heat embossing the cute Magenta Zen Sunflower Bird on watercolour paper and colouring it with Distress inks, heat embossing the Magenta Leafy Branch foliage on acetate, and die cutting the window using the largest die from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Die set.

Additional Supplies: Zen Sunflower Bird, Leafy Branch, sentiment stamp (Magenta), Tim Holtz Distress inks[Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Vintage Photo], black Archival ink (Ranger), clear emboss powder, Stitched Rectangle Die, Moonshine Assorted sequins (Simon Says Stamp), VersaMark (Tsukineko), Wild Wasabi green emboss powder (Stampin' Up), cardstock (CTMH)

I finished off my card by adding in the Simon Says Stamp Moonshine Assorted Sequins and tying the whole scene together, I used the Magenta 'Sending You Sunshine' stamp to heat emboss the sentiment.

Whoo hoo! If you were keeping count, that was: one personal artistic growth challenge, two classes' homework pieces, and three Simon Says Stamp challenges. Plus, at the end of it all... one awesome, bright, and cheery card! I love it when it all comes together.

If you want to see what I am referring to as awesome eye-candy, be sure to hover over the various sites mentioned in my checked section to link to them and see. Alternatively, if you search hashtags for #icad2016, #summerofcreativechemistry, #occheatwave, #sssmchallenge, #ssswchallenge, #sssworkitwednesday, you can see all the loveliness that way too.
