PageMaps Anniversary 1-2-3-4 Challenge Card

It has been a while but I am still here.  Another new job assignment leaves me with very little me time thus minimal scrap time.  I found myself really needing a mini crafting fix and decided to make a quick card.

My inspiration... PageMaps of course! LOL! I visited the sight and see that Becky has oodles of events going on for her site's 7th Anniversary.  I decided to do the 1-2-3-4 Challenge which encompasses 3 areas: a recipe, a colour scheme, and the use of a card sketch.

Here is what I came up with...

Supplies: Patterned papers and chipboard (Echo Park), baker's twine (Jillibean Soup), border punch (Fiskars), cardstock (Bazzill), brad (Making Memories)

 I used one of my favourite Echo Park lines-  the "This & That Graceful Collection". Perfect for the four colours of the recipe.  I have the 1 brad, 2 patterned papers, 3 layers and all four colours.  I used baker's twine to create the lollipop with doublw side tape on a circle punch shape.

When it All Comes Together

When I saw this sketch on the Creative Scrappers blog the other day, I knew it would be perfect for a photo that I had of my nephew. Looking at the photo colours, I thought to use Echo Park's For the Record 2 Documented which I had in my last kit from the Nook before their closing... that sadly until this point had sat untouch.  Add in a red piece from their For the Record collection and it provided just the right colour contrast and photo coordination.



Supplies: patterned papers, letter stickers, stickers, chipboard (Echo Park), red chipboard letters (Pink Paislee), circle punches (Creative Memories and Stampin'Up), ink and pen (CTMH)

I sanded a large circular area to mute the boldness of the awesome number background paper a bit just to keep the focus on the photo and elements.  I used cast iron metal home decor stars to trace just the right size stars that were needed and I used stickers from both collections. I inked up the edges on all the pieces and lastly added a titch of faux stitching.

Gotta love it when it all comes together!

This & That

Literally that is... of the Echo Park variety.  The This & That Graceful collection was one of my favs from this past year. A good thing too because I ended up with two packs of it.  I have been very fortunate over the time that I was a kit subscriber to not end up buying something before it happened to come out in a kit. (I can say that I have been guilty of buying some more of something afterwards because I loved it so much though. LOL!) But with this collection, I had to have it and purchased it at ScrapFest only to have it arrive in a Nook kit a few weeks later.

Thus far, I have loved anything I have made with it! The designs and colours... they just make me feel good. Definitely a bonus when one is creating.

Here is a fun whimsical layout that I made to go with the cute photo of my daughter from a few summers ago.

It was my Fun And Playful style take on this Jennifer Matot reverse sketch assignment:

I made this card at a crop for a dear teacher friend of mine.

I had such a strong feeling that she was going to get a contract that I created this card and even wrote the congratulations inside, weeks before she got one.  It is funny how sometimes we just know.  I was able to give her the card a few weeks later on the day she official received word.

I have a few more This & That projects to share but I will do so at another time. Until then...

Get Picky GDT Sketch #15

I was totally inspired by this Get Picky sketch #15.  In fact I could have scrapped two very different layouts with completely different sets of photos.  Now that is what I call inspiration!

Supplies: patterned papers, cardstock stickers, cardstock letter stickers (Echo Park), cardstock (Bazzill), ink (CTMH), butterfly punches (Fiskars and Martha Stewart), wht pen (Signo), blk pen (Creative Memories), sketch (Get Picky), jewels and staples (miscellaneous)

In the end I decided to use the Echo Park Times and Seasons collection that came in the November kit from the Nook.  The rich colours enhanced these precious  photos of my daughter and a family friend.  I love how it all came together... the photos, the product and the sketch! 

As you can see, my take sticks pretty closely to the original sketch.
